Culinary culture is no new phenomenon - humans have been striving to make and eat delicious food since the dawn of, well, humans. So it's no surprise that illustrations of everything from every-day grub to succulent delicacies made it into the art of Edo Japan. These ukiyo-e paintings, "pictures of the floating world," depict the food of the time, and the way the people of Japan have been eating it over the past couple hundred years. This exhibition is a fun look at both some beautiful art, and the cuisine of another era. (Keep an eye out for illustrated grilled eel, sushi, tempura, and of course booze!)
