This year, coronavirus has meant the cancellation of festivals and other events all over Japan, especially in busy places like the Ueno area of Tokyo. But no human virus will stop the cherry blossoms from blooming this spring, and the sakura are early this year, thanks to a warm winter and early spring. Wander through Ueno Park this year for Ueno Sakura Matsuri (うえの桜まつり) and you're unlikely to see any official events, with most things being canceled here as well, but instead find yourself a rare glimpse of the sakura without the standard crowds.
