traNslatioNs - Understanding Misunderstanding (Art Exhibition, Tokyo)
Oct 16, 2020 - Mar 07, 2021
If you're an English-speaker in Japan, you've probably experienced a little misunderstanding yourself! This exhibition at 21_21 Design Sight looks at translation in a looser sense, including how our bodies translate visual or auditory communication, and the many ways it can result in misunderstanding. Based on Dominique Chen's idea that "translation is designing communication," traNslatioNs explores the concept in a variety of ways, from AI-based automatic translation to multi-lingual videography.
