The Treasures of Mitsubishi Collection: The Mitsubishi 150th Anniversary Exhibition (Tokyo) Jun 30, 2021 - Sep 12, 2021

Starting in the 1800s, for more than a century, four consecutive presidents of the Mitsubishi company took a particular interest in the arts and culture. Iwasaki Yataro (1835-1885), who founded the company, Yanosuke (1851–1908), Hisaya (1865–1955), and Koyata (1879–1945), each kept company with contemporary scholars and artists, and the collections amassed over four generations are now housed at The Seikado Foundation and Toyo Bunko in Tokyo.

This exhibition follows the path of the Mitsubishi presidents' support for arts and culture in Japan, and is a rare opportunity to see the collections from The Seikado Foundation and Toyo Bunko together under one roof. Visit the museum to see more than a hundred precious pieces including rare books, traditional crafts, and fine art, including twelve National Treasures and thirty-one Important Cultural Properties, plus items from the collection at The Mitsubishi Economic Research Institute.
