Kamisaka Sekka: Inheriting the Timeless Rimpa Spirit (Tokyo)
Oct 29, 2022 - Dec 18, 2022
つながる琳派スピリット神坂雪佳展
Despite being born 200 years after the peak of the Rinpa school of Japanese art, Kamisaka Sekka (1866–1942) combined the beauty of the traditional art style with modern concepts, plus inspiration found when visiting turn-of-the-century Europe, to establish his own unique style. This thoughtful exhibition includes a number of pieces by the featured artist, alongside work from the Rinpa school that inspired him, for an interesting tour through the path Rinpa art has taken through the years.
