Gaya―The History of Co-Existence in Ancient East Asia (Chiba)
Oct 04, 2022 - Dec 11, 2022

加耶―古代東アジアを生きた、ある王国の歴史―
Before it collapsed in the year 562, the Gaya region of what is now modern-day Korea was a prosperous collection of small communities that competed as much as they cooperated, bringing innovation to the area and spurring trade - sometimes even with the Wa people, just across the sea in modern-day Japan. This exhibition is all about ancient Gaya, touching on the history of the area and the connections between the Gaya civilization and the rest of the world, particularly ancient Japan, with close to 220 beautiful artifacts excavated from the area to shine a light on what life was really like almost 2,000 years ago.
