Hokkaido, la destination hivernale par excellence du Japon. De plus en plus de gens se rendent compte des charmes et de la beauté de l'île, en faisant un des coins à visiter à tout prix. Mais quel est le meilleur moyen de s'y rendre depuis Tokyo? Le TGV ou l'avion sont de très bons moyens de transport, mais pour ceux qui souhaitent vivre une expérience un peu différente, nous avons ça pour vous! Nous vous avons déjà proposé de partir en ferry depuis la préfecture d'Ibaraki jusqu'à Hokkaido. Nous avons présenté le système des ferry japonais et les choses à faire à Ibaraki.. mais nous n'avions pas encore mentionné les choses à faire une fois arrivé à Hokkaido! Faisant partie de notre dernier article sur les ferry, JAPANKURU zoome cette fois sur les choses à visiter sur l'île, et en particulier un fois arrivé au port de Hokkaido's Tomakomai West Port Ferry Terminal.
Si vous avez raté nos précédents articles, la première chose à faire sera de vous rendre au port Oarai. Deux moyens s'offrent à vous pour y accéder: la voiture ou le bus. Vous pouvez trouver des détails supplémentaires sur leur site ici. Une fois rendu, vous pouvez acheter vos billets au comptoir et attendre pour embarquer. Faites attention, il y a deux types de ferries: un de soir, et un de nuit. Le premier part à 19:45 et le second à 1:45. Choisissez celui qui vous convient le mieux!

Aller à Hokkaido depuis Tokyo par le ferry
Il existe de nombreuses façons de se rendre à Hokkaido, mais le plus original reste de prendre le ferry. C'est un des moyens les plus sobres de voyager. Comme mentionné précédemment, si vous partez depuis le port d'Oarai à Ibaraki, votre ticket est tout ce dont vous avez besoin. Vous trouverez à bord une chambre dans laquelle vous pouvez dormir, et un restaurant, des bains publiques sont à disposition pour se relaxer. Vous serez à Hokkaido une fois réveillé! Mais qu'y a-t-il à voir là-bas? Ci-dessous sont les endroits où nous sommes allés et dans lesquels nous avons passé d'excellents moments.
Les eaux thermales de Noboribetsu (登別温泉)
Noboribetsu Onsen (登別温泉) est un des centres thermaux les plus réputés de Hokkaido. Une large portion des sources de Noboribetsu se situe dans l'impressionnante Jigodani ou "vallée de la mort" juste en dessous de la ville. Noboribetsu fait partie du parc national de Shikotsu-Toya dont les contrastes entre la roche volcanique et les lacs bleus ciel sont saisissants.
Si vous vous trouvez à Otaru, on vous conseille fortement le magasin de boîte à musique Otaru. A l'origine un atelier durant l'ère Meiji (XIXe siècle), le bâtiement est devenu un hall pour les boîtes à musique dès 1912. On trouve pleins de magasin de boîtes à musique dans le Japon, mais celle-ci est apparemment la plus grande de l'archipel.

💻Otaru Music Box Museum (ENG)
Le symbole de la ville d'Otaru, sinon de tout Hokkaido, est le Canal Otaru et est absolument à voir si vous faîtes du tourisme à Hokkaido. Fini en 1923, alors que le Japon s'occidentalisait, le canal a été bati afin de faciliter la voie des bateaux. Vous y trouverez tout le long de vieux batiments en briques rouges magnifiques la nuit à la lueur des lampadaires à gaz. Vous pouvez même faire une croisière sur le canal sur des sortes de gondoles à l'italienne.

Le pavillon de glace (アイスパビリオン)
Si vous n'allez pas à Hokkaido durant l'hiver mais que vous voulez tout de même voir de la neige, nous vous recommandons le Pavillon de glace de Hokkaido. Ce dernier est gardé à une température de -20° et se partage en 5 parties bien différentes les unes des autres. Nous avons essayé la serviette gelée, mais le marteau banane a également attiré notre attention. Pour les plus aguéris d'entre vous, vous pouvez vivre des températures à -40°, ce qui correspond aux plus basses températures du Japon!
Shirahige Waterfall (白ひげの滝 )
L’étang bleu (青い池)
En descendant Shirahige, vous tomberez sur l'étang bleu (青い池). Il s'agit d'un étang artificiel entouré d'arbres à 500 mètres d'altitude. Il a été à l'origine construit afin d'empêcher les coulées de boue volcanique sur le village de Biei, et possède une couleur bleue venant de la rivière Biei. Après que l'eau des chutes d'eau et eaux thermales voisines, riches en aluminium se soient mélangées à la rivière Biei et aux eaux chaudes riches en souffre de la rivière Iou, la couleur bleueté apparaît à la lumière. D'où son nom de "rivière bleue". Vous aurez une particulièrement jolie vue durant l'hiver.

Les hivers sont certes très froids mais les étés sont doux.
C'est certainement un des meilleurs endroits pour contempler une nature vierge tout en profitant d'excellent repas tels que du mais, de la glace, du melon, des ramen et bien sûr des fruits de mers (tout particulièrement l'oursin et le crabe).
Tout comme nous, vous tomberez certainement amoureux de cette île après l'avoir visité.

Akita Prefecture is on the Sea of Japan, in the northern reaches of Japan's northern Tohoku region. Akita has more officially registered important intangible culture assets than anywhere else in Japan, and to this day visitors can experience traditional culture throughout the prefecture, from the Oga Peninsula's Namahage (registered with UNESCO as a part of Japan's intangible cultural heritage), to the Tohoku top 3 Kanto Festival. Mysterious little spots like the Oyu Stone Circle Site and Ryu no Atama (Dragon's Head) are also worth a visit!

Fukushima Prefecture sits at the southern tip of Japan's northern Tohoku region, and is divided into three parts with their own different charms: the Coastal Area (Hama-dori), the Central Area (Naka-dori), and the Aizu Area. Yamagata Prefecture is up against the Sea of Japan, in the southern part of the Tohoku region, and it's especially popular in winter, when travelers soak in the onsen (hot springs) and ski down snowy slopes. International skiiers are especially fond of Zao Onsen Ski Resort and Gassan Ski Resort, and in recent years visitors have been drawn to the area to see the mystical sight of local frost-covered trees. Some destinations are popular regardless of the season, like Risshakuji Temple, AKA Yamadera, Ginzan Onsen's nostalgic old-fashioned streets, and Zao's Okama Lake, all great for taking pictures. Yamagata is also the place to try Yonezawa beef, one of the top 3 varieties of wagyu beef.

While Aichi is home to major industry, and is even the birthplace of Toyota cars, it's proximity to the sea and the mountains means it's also a place with beautiful natural scenery, like Saku Island, Koijigahama Beach, Mt. Horaiji. Kagawa Prefecture is on the northern part of the island of Shikoku, facing Japan's main island and the Seto Inland Sea. It's known for being the smallest prefecture in Japan, by area, but at the same time Kagawa is called the "Udon Prefecture" thanks to its famous sanuki udon. Aside from Kotohiragu Shrine and Ritsurin Garden, the prefecture's small islands are popular, and Kagawa is full of unique destinations, like Angel Road. They say that if you lay eyes on Zenigata Sunae, a huge Kagawa sand painting, you'll never have money troubles ever again.

Fukuoka Prefecture has the highest population on the southern island of Kyushu, with two major cities: Fukuoka and Kitakyushu. Thanks to growing transportation networks, Fukuoka is more accessible than ever, and so are the many local attractions. On top of historical spots like Dazaifu Tenmangu Shrine, travelers shouldn't miss Fukuoka's food scene, with motsu nabe (offal hotpot), mentaiko (spicy cod roe), and famous Hakata ramen―best eaten from a food stall in the Nakasu area of Hakata. Plus, it's full of all sorts of destinations for travelers, like trendy shopping centers, and the beautiful nature of Itoshima and Yanagawa.

Kagoshima Prefecture played a major role in Japan's modernization as a backdrop for famous historical figures like samurais Saigo Takamori and Okubo Toshimichi, who pushed Japan out of the Edo era and into the Meiji. Because of that, Sengan-en Garden is just one of many historical destinations, and when it comes to attractions Kagoshima has plenty: the active volcano of Sakurajima, popular hot springs Ibusuki Onsen and Kirishima Onsen, World Heritage Site Yakushima Island, even what Japan calls the "island closest to heaven," Amami Oshima. Kagoshima might be found on the very southernmost tip of the southern island of Kyushu, but there's plenty to see.

OKINAWA

The island chain of Okinawa (沖縄) makes up the southernmost tip of Japan, which is why it's also the most tropical area in the country. Thanks to a history of independence and totally distinct political and cultural events, Okinawa has a unique culture, and remnants of the Ryukyu Kingdom are still visible all over the islands. Food, language, traditional dress, it's all a little different! It's also said to be the birthplace of karate.
