A Punk Fashion Legend: Vivienne Westwood
Established in 1970s England by the designer who gave the brand its name, Vivienne Westwood spread punk style across the globe and revolutionized high fashion with wave after wave of bold designs that challenged conventional standards. As a brand, Vivienne Westwood captures a unique balance of luxury and rebellion, and iconic imagery like the distinctive Saturn-ringed “Orb” logo is now recognized by fashion lovers and the uninitiated alike. To this day, the fashion house and its selection of apparel, accessories, and lifestyle products remain beloved by style enthusiasts everywhere, especially in Japan.
Vivienne Westwood’s Newest Japanese Boutique: Aoyama, Tokyo

Vivienne Westwood’s one-of-a-kind sense of style has won the fashion label countless fans across generations and around the world, and in Japan, the brand now has more than 50 locations! Each boutique has its own local style, and most recently, the brand is offering fans a fresh new fashion experience at their new flagship in Tokyo’s Aoyama neighborhood, near Harajuku. The store not only offers a full lineup of Vivienne Westwood products from both men’s and women’s collections, but also brings the very first Vivienne Westwood Cafe to Japan, presenting visitors with a chance to enjoy the brand’s fashion and relax while immersed in the Vivienne Westwood ambience, all at once.

The new Japanese Vivienne Westwood flagship is located in central Minami-Aoyama, not far from the former Aoyama boutique, but in a brand-new, airy space that makes it easier than ever for customers to explore the latest collections. The two-story building utilizes an eye-catching blend of Japanese art and architecture both inside and out, reminding visitors of the boutique’s Tokyo location through the use of traditional imagery like red lacquered panels. Inspired by koshi latticework, a decorative technique seen in temples and traditional Japanese homes, the latticework adds light and dimension to the space, while hand-plastered murals of Vivienne Westwood logos, created using traditional Japanese techniques, cover the walls to further enhance the atmosphere. At the center of the shop, a large image of the brand’s signature Orb completes the Vivienne Westwood look.
Limited-Edition Tokyo Vivienne Westwood Items & Early Releases

To celebrate the opening of the new Vivienne Westwood Aoyama flagship, the brand prepared a lineup of special limited-edition items offered at the new shop, and nowhere else. The exclusive lineup includes a collection of special-edition items in an orange, green, and blue tartan check pattern, including pieces like the Leli Jacket, George Trousers, and Summer Kilt Skirt.

This vibrant, refreshing tartan was pulled from the brand’s archive and reimagined for the Aoyama boutique’s opening, revived in order to offer fans a chance to rediscover the charm of some of Vivienne Westwood’s original designs. Each piece comes marked with a Special Edition label!
You can also pick up some classic favorites in this colorful tartan, including purses like the Yasmine and Granny bags, as well as smaller accessories like wallets – must-have items for collectors.

The store also presents shoppers with an early look at the brand-new Enamel Button jewelry collection, which mainly includes rings and earrings prominently adorned with the Orb logo. Launched at the Aoyama shop before anywhere else, these pieces are not to be missed if you’re the kind of Vivienne Westwood fan that likes to get your hands on new designs first.

Of course, the shop isn’t just stocked with special limited-edition products. A full lineup of pieces from Vivienne Westwood’s Fall/Winter 2025 menswear and womenswear collections is also available, along with fan-favorite items like the heart-shaped lighter (which can double as an accessory) and a number of timeless Orb jewelry items – designs that continue to win hearts, decades down the line.

Japan’s First Vivienne Westwood Cafe, in Tokyo

Another highlight of this new flagship is the opening of the first Vivienne Westwood cafe in Japan! Passing through the doors, visitors are greeted by decorations and details that call back to the brand’s origins, like a large clock inspired by the one outside Vivienne Westwood’s historic Worlds End Shop in London, founded in 1971. This unique 13-hour counterclockwise timepiece is a symbol of many of Vivienne Westwood’s most important guiding principles – it breaks the rules, rejects convention, and embodies the rebellious, free-spirited, and unconventional style the fashion house has become known for.

The carefully crafted cafe menu includes an original Vivienne Westwood coffee blend made from premium beans, which goes great with their signature scones (perfected through countless trials), as well as shortbread from Scotland’s historic Reids of Caithness bakery. Order it all and enjoy an intensely British experience, in an atmosphere that will almost make you think you’re enjoying tea time (or perhaps coffee time) in London, despite being in the heart of Tokyo.
Although primarily designed for to-go orders, the cafe is spacious, airy, and nice to look at too, making it a great place for a little rest and refreshments after shopping in the boutique. Of course, the cafe is open to anyone who wants to drop by for a quick break, whether shopping or not!

Collectors will be delighted to find that the cafe offers exclusive limited-edition merchandise, including mugs, water bottles, keychains, and even aprons, allowing fans to bring the Vivienne Westwood cafe vibes into their everyday lives, or even recreate a little “Vivienne Cafe” at home.
