Whether you want to dazzle this holiday season with makeup that looks stage-ready, or you want to face January with a classy “new year, new you” look that exudes sophisticated confidence, we’ve got all the CANMAKE cosmetics recommendations to get you started.

To capture the flashy, youthful image that comes to mind when we think of Asia’s pop idols, this makeup utilizes CANMAKE items that brighten the complexion, add lively color, and enhance definition without looking too over the top.

Fit Glow Cushion [03] Pink Natural, Moon Glow Highlighter [03] Moon Glow Lilac

To lay the groundwork for this first look, start with the Fit Glow Cushion in [03] Pink Natural, which will have you feeling like a pop princess the moment you set eyes on the cute pink packaging. We previously pointed to the Fit Glow Cushion as a great glowy base in our J-Beauty vs K-Beauty article, but the new Pink Natural shade offers more of a trendy pink tone. With a light texture that creates a subtle glow, the product feels like it “fits” right onto your skin, but the formula is still resistant to water, sweat, and sebum – just the thing for a face of idol makeup.

Add a touch of the Moon Glow Highlighter, in the new shade [03] Moon Glow Lilac, to the forehead, cheeks, tip of the nose, and even the chin to add extra radiance to that pink glow. This highlight can brighten your complexion and add a little “kawaii” touch at the same time, giving you a look that’s ready to shine under the stage lights (or flash photography this holiday season).

Eye Makeup That Commands Attention

Fit Styler Eyebrow [01] Natural Brown, Super Kawaii! Palette [40th], Metalook Mascara ~Volume Look~ [V01] Black, Creamy Touch Liner [11] Cloudy Gray

These days, pop idol eye makeup starts with the brows! If you follow the natural flow and angle of your eyebrows and smooth the hairs with Fit Styler Eyebrow in [01] Natural Brown, you’ll get the perfect softly defined shape. Next, use the limited-edition Super Kawaii! Palette [40th], a special limited-edition anniversary release that celebrates 40 years of CANMAKE by gathering all of the brand’s signature “kawaii!” colors into one palette. Use the bright shades in the upper-left section to bring out all of your inner kawaii essence, and put together a cute eye look that would even stand out on stage.

Once you’ve added some fun color to your lids, you can gently define the shape with the Creamy Touch Liner in [11] Cloudy Gray, and finally give your lashes a swipe of the Metalook Mascara ~Volume Look~ in [V01] Black. This mascara is specially designed to create clustered “idol-style” lashes, and the full effect is fresh and wide-eyed, just like a cute Japanese pop idol.

A Shimmering Flush for Pop Idol Cheeks

Powder Cheeks [P06] Juicy Coral

There’s nothing like the rosy flush of a pop star straight off the stage, but you can get something similar with the Powder Cheeks in [P06] Juicy Coral, which goes on sale in Japan starting late December (2025). This translucent red-coral shade, combined with CANMAKE’s signature subtle shimmer, blends naturally into the cheeks despite the powder formula. Plus, the brush that comes inside the blush compact is small but mighty – good enough quality that you can effortlessly apply the product to your cheeks without needing an extra brush – perfect for instantly freshening up your look and adding dimension, even on the go.

Soft and Rosy Idol Lips

Muchi Puru Tint [05] Fig Puree, Mellow Dew Lip Essence [02] Pure Red

Want the clear lip colors and glossy volume pop idols always seem to effortlessly achieve during public appearances? Try this duo! First, apply Muchi Puru Tint in [05] Fig Puree across the lips to create the muted rose tone that has been all the rage among pop idols in Asia this season. Once you’re happy with the color, lightly tap the Mellow Dew Lip Essence in [02] Pure Red onto the inner lips to add hydration and create a gradient of glossy rose-red. Packed with moisturizing ingredients, these lip products are great to have on hand as the weather becomes drier. Don’t even worry about flaking!

A Japanese Actress Makeup Look: Subtle, Sophisticated, and Oh-So-Elegant

Japanese makeup might be great for creating cute pop star sparkle, but it can also be the key to a more refined style, when you’re in the mood for a look that’s a little more mature. Next up is what we’re calling “Japanese actress makeup,” which offers a more elegant, put-together feel, playing up your natural beauty with a little help from a few CANMAKE products.

Base Makeup With a Soft Shine for the Actress on Camera

캔메이크 문 글로우 하이라이터 01 화이트, 여배우 윤광 베이스

Fit Glow Cushion [01] Light, Moon Glow Highlighter [01] Moon Glow White

Japanese actresses tend to favor minimal makeup that plays up natural features, and that unique elegance truly begins with the right base makeup. The Fit Glow Cushion in [01] Light is designed to smooth skin texture, and using the built-in puff, you can pick up just the right amount of product to easily achieve a light, even finish. This lends your skin a subtle radiance, like the fresh, naturally hydrated skin of a starlet. Add just a tap of the Moon Glow Highlighter in [01] Moon Glow White to areas where the light hits (the forehead, nose bridge, and cheekbones) to enhance your facial contours without looking overdone. The result is a clean base that looks naturally luminous, as if you were born with flawless skin.

Styling Edge Eyebrow [02] Ash Brown, Creamy Touch Liner [15] Cappuccino Pink, Metalook Mascara [03] Sweet Black, Super Kawaii! Palette [40th]

Ever felt yourself getting sucked into the deep, expressive eyes of the heroine of your favorite Japanese drama? You can probably achieve a similar look by starting with the brows, filling them in by following your natural brow shape with the Styling Edge Eyebrow in [02] Ash Brown to create a softly arched brow – polished, but not too bold. For the lids, we’re reaching again for the 32 versatile shades of the Super Kawaii! Palette [40th], particularly the eight shades in the lower-right section. Among these eyeshadows you’ll find some of CANMAKE’s beloved subtle shimmers, as well as some natural contour tones, helpful for achieving the typical actress look – great for emphasizing emotion without taking attention away from you yourself!

Define the lash line lightly with Creamy Touch Liner in [15] Cappuccino Pink, focusing on the waterline and extending the shape slightly for a little extra drama. Finish by lifting sweeping your lashes gently from root to tip with Metalook Mascara in [03] Sweet Black, enhancing each lash for a simple, defined look.

Blush That Highlights Your Complexion, Features, and Attitude

Cream Cheek (Pearl Type) [P06] Sweet Coral

To add some more color to this subtle actress-themed makeup look, CANMAKE’s Cream Cheek (Pearl Type) in [P06] Sweet Coral offers a touch of breezy peach-pink, with a cream blush formula that adds a natural flush to your cheeks. Apply diagonally from the upper cheekbones toward the outer corners of the eyes, allowing the subtle pearlescent shimmer to add natural dimension. Adjusting the placement and angle of the blush can slim the face while adding depth!

A Graceful Actress Pout for the Lips

Muchi Puru Tint [40thx] Strawberry Bonbon

For the lips we’ve got another of CANMAKE’s limited-edition 40th-anniversary products, the Muchi Puru Tint in the special anniversary shade [40thx] Strawberry Bonbon. This creamy beige-pink pairs beautifully with the actress theme, but the formula for this popular product also seems to melt into your lips a subtle shine. Color-wise, it’s a great match for the Cream Cheek (Pearl Type) in [P06] Sweet Coral (which we used on the cheeks), and using them together makes everything look more put-together.
