Hokkaido’s most famous snow festival is back for its 76th year, with all the breathtaking snow sculptures the world has come to expect, and some exciting additions to keep visitors young and old entertained. Head to Sapporo for this special week-long event, and enjoy the experience of stepping into a storybook!
The 2026 Sapporo Snow Festival is divided into three zones around the city, each with different highlights and activities to enjoy.

- Odori Park: The main venue of the festival, this is where you’ll find the giant snow sculptures that have captured attention all over the world, drawing visitors from near and far. See the snow glitter in the sunlight, enjoy colorful light projections after dark, and choose which sculpture you think should win the competition!
- Susukino District: Susukino is the heart of Sapporo nightlife, and during the festival it’s home to a collection of intricate ice sculptures. Keep an eye out for sculptures with anime themes, or others featuring Japan’s cute characters.
- Tsudome (Sapporo Community Dome): The perfect place for families and visitors who want to spend more time in the snow (and not just looking at it), this area offers sledding hills, slippery ice slides, food stalls, and plenty of opportunities to play in the snow!
