The app allows you to explore the exhibits through your phone, complete missions, and collect information about the creatures big and small hidden throughout the rooms. The app adds an important element of exploration and discovery, and it’s available in both Japanese and English! Availability does vary by country/region, so search for “Wonderia” in the App Store or Google Play before your visit to check, or just use the QR code on display throughout the facility to jump right to the download page.

Zone 1: The Colors of the Changing Seasons

The first zone is themed around Japan’s distinct four seasons, featuring a bustling highland habitat. The moment you step inside, a subtle floral aroma greets you as spring, summer, autumn, and winter unfold across the walls through beautifully crafted visuals.

Part of the fun is spotting the highland creatures that appear throughout each season. Using the Wonderia app, it feels like you gotta catch ’em all, and you can move from one space to another collecting each and every one of the creatures. There are so many species hidden throughout the scenes that collecting them all is actually a challenge, but that’s exactly what makes this zone so much fun.

Zone 2: Dive to Blue

The next area, Dive to Blue, is a short tunnel completely enveloped in vibrant visuals, where visitors journey from the sky to the surface of the sea, gradually descending into the depths of the ocean inside stunning projections. The experience feels as though you’ve been transported into a dreamlike world, underwater, or perhaps deep in space. Wherever you look—up, forward, or even beneath your feet—the scenery surrounds you, creating a powerful sense of immersion as the visuals constantly evolve.

The immersive LED tunnel itself is actually impressive in and of itself, measuring 5 x 8 x 4m—one of Japan’s largest permanent immersive tunnels. Wonderia Yokohama is full of fantastic photo opportunities, but if you’re hoping to capture your best shots of the day (or just zone out and enjoy the experience), this zone might just be the place.

Zone 3: The Camouflaged Forest

The third zone offers a unique experience, a little like playing hide-and-seek in a mysterious forest. As the visuals change, the challenge is to spot the creatures concealed among the lush scenery, even using the app to discover surprising hidden faces that might otherwise go unnoticed.

At the center of the room, a collection of comfy beanbags can be found gathered around the central “trunk” of a forest tree, so visitors can sit and stretch out while taking in the scenery stretching across the walls and ceiling. The atmosphere is remarkably relaxing, and you might just start to feel like you’re really lying in a forest clearing and gazing up at the sky. A perfect place to unwind for a few minutes during a busy day of sightseeing.

The fourth zone is immediately captivating thanks to the dramatic change in atmosphere. Walking through a narrow passageway, and the space suddenly opens into a vast cavern filled with shimmering lights. As the projections change, the effect feels like you could be wandering through a galaxy, floating through outer space.

Mysterious glowing lifeforms appear throughout the area, enhancing the sense of wonder—and offering more to catch through the app! Among all the zones in Wonderia Yokohama, this one is the most dreamy and fantastical. If you want to lose yourself and wander away from reality for a while, this is the place to do it.

Zone 5: Soaring Through the Sky

Pretty and pastel, Zone 5 is one of the easiest places to take nice photos in Wonderia Yokohama, but whether you’re holding a camera or just letting your eyes roam, the vibrant scenery is incredibly eye-catching. The floor feels like a reflective lake, mirroring the pink-tinted skies above, for a romantic setting that evokes images of Bolivia’s famous Uyuni Salt Flats.

Swans glide through the air and across the water, and the movement creates the sensation of flying through vast open skies alongside them. With an entire floor of mirrors, the line between above and below becomes blurred, creating a surreal landscape that makes every photo look magical. (Visitors concerned about reflections while wearing skirts or shorts can borrow a cover-up before entering the room.)

Zone 6: Into the Wonder

The last zone offers a unique view of Yokohama, the city all around you! Starting from Kannai Station, local landmarks are reimagined through the lens of Wonderia Yokohama’s fantasy universe, featuring iconic Yokohama spots like the Red Brick Warehouse, Yokohama Chinatown, and the city’s picturesque waterfront scenery. If you’ve already explored Yokohama, it’s especially fun to pick out all the places you’ve visited, and watch them transform into something entirely new—casual street scenes, turned into stages for extraordinary stories.

Don’t Miss Wonderia Yokohama’s Merch & Food

Extend the magic of your visit and stop by the gift shop after exploring the immersive zones. The shop has a variety of unique souvenirs, including plush toys modeled after the adorable creatures seen throughout the facility, and a selection of original Wonderia-themed merch to show off back home. The stylish t-shirts and the original Wonderia claw machine prizes are particularly popular as souvenirs.

If you’ve been trying your best with the app, then you’ll find another surprise in the gift shop. Anyone who’s completed enough creature-finding missions throughout the six zones can unlock special rewards and benefits at the shop and cafe!

Next to the shop, the cafe has a menu that reflects the attraction’s fantastical atmosphere, with colorful desserts and drinks that are almost too beautiful to sip. Popular orders include the colorful Wonderia Donuts and the ocean-inspired Deep Blue Drink, each of which practically demands a photo before digging in. We also loved the Forest Bubble Tea, topped with a dome-shaped bubble that you get to pop yourself! You can also take home a colorful loaf of Wonderia Bread, inspired by the attraction itself.

If you get carried away taking pictures and logging all the facility’s fantastic beasts, you’ll be happy to find that there are portable battery rental stations throughout the facility, including inside the cafe. Since every corner of Wonderia Yokohama seems designed for cool photos and videos, battery life can certainly disappear quickly! Wonderia Yokohama has your back, so if you forget your own power bank, you can rent one and continue on capturing every moment of your visit.
