川越氷川神社 縁むすび風鈴
Japan sure loves its seasonal wonders, and at this popular shrine just outside of Tokyo, it’s all about the summer wind chimes! Kawagoe’s Hikawa Shrine is home to a god of match-making, which means it’s popular among couples (and those searching for love), and it gets especially crowded around Tanabata season (when festivals celebrate the love of a legendary couple). But in recent years, the shrine has begun creating magical tunnels of little glass wind chimes to celebrate the season, and crowds flock to hear them ring in the summer breeze. Head over to admire the lovely music of rows and rows of chimes, creating a corridor of sound, and the colorful backdrop they create. Glowing lights add a little extra magic after dark, as well!
