If you’ve read Death Note, or watched the anime, then you’ve seen the impressive talent of Takeshi Obata at work! (Even if some of us weren’t so sure about the second half of Death Note, the art did remain consistently well-executed.)
Also known for Hikaru no Go and Bakuman, this famous manga artist is celebrating 30 years creating beautiful illustrations for some of our favorite stories. Head to the exhibition to take a look at Obata’s work throughout his career, 500 carefully chosen original paintings and panels from the artist’s archive, and enjoy the chance to see it all up close! (And go home with some limited-edition Death Note, Bakuman, and Hikaru no Go souvenirs, of course.)
If the end of Death Note left you wanting more, a special Death Note one-shot manga is due to be released alongside the event.
Tokyo: July 13 ~ August 12, 2019
Niigata: September 14 ~ November 10, 2019
