There are just so many places to go to in Tokyo, and it's hard to find the right places! We want to help you try to solve those pains for you. This time, we will look at 5 aquariums that you can get to from Tokyo and try to explain the differences here for you to make your selection process easier.

Let us introduce our five selection of aquariums, and each with its unique points, that you can get to easily from Tokyo.
 
Enoshima Aquarium: Enoshima
  • This aquarium located in Enoshima near Kamakura is an aquarium that has a fish tank which is a mock-up of the Sagami Bay with 200 different kinds of fish existing in one massive tank.

    They also have a section dedicated to Jellyfish where they have many different kinds of jellyfish beautifully presented.

    There is also an app where you can scan their AR code to read the explanations in your language.

The Sunshine Aquarium: Ikebukuro
The Sunshine Aquarium is located at the top of a building right inside the city of Ikebukuro.

You will be walking through a trail that looks like you are walking under the sea, and because it is located at the top of the building, you can see the view of Ikebukuro with the fish together when you get to the open space at the top.

Shinagawa Aquarium: Shinagawa
  • Shinagawa Aquarium is a family-friendly aquarium located close to Haneda Airport.

    They have storage lockers at the entrance so you can leave your heavy luggage if you're visiting on the day you are leaving Japan. 

    They have designed the aquarium so that the displayed fish and other animals can be seen easily from the children's' viewpoint.

    The fish tank is designed to have a window at a lowe level compared to other aquariums and some tanks are designed to have the window from the roof to the floor. (Not all tanks are designed this way though.)

    They also have nursing rooms and free sheets to use when you are changing your baby's diapers.

When you say Oshiage, you may not recognise the area, but if we say the Sky Tree, some may recognise where that is.
This place is close to Asakusa, another famous tourist destination in Tokyo, and is located exactly where the Sky Tree is.

The reason why we've chosen this aquarium is because if you're already planning to go to the sky tree it is cheaper to get a ticket for both the aquarium and the Sky Tree.

This aquarium opens many events throughout the year so you can never be bored.

Yohokama Hakkeijima Sea Paradice: Hakkeijima
The Yokohama Hakkeijima Sea Paradise is located close to Yokohama as the name shows.
They have recently renovated the aquarium to make it more educational for children.

The whole complex is separated into four different sections and each has a different theme as well as different facilities.
