This interesting event was first held in 2018, when Tokyo's museum of contemporary art was under renovations, pushing the art out of the one building and into the rest of the neighborhood. Even now that the museum has reopened, the MOT (Museum of Contemporary Art Tokyo) is positioning itself as a “neighborhood satellite presenting perspectives for experiencing the neighborhood,” and continues to encourage visitors to explore the surrounding area.
This time around, the event's focus is on maps, and works of art of all kinds will be scattered around the neighborhood, depicting cities real and imaginary, and varying in date and duration. The exhibition puts it best when they say that these maps "that serve as clues in encountering unknown regions while also being mirrors that reflect one’s own perspectives, indeed harbor the potential to change the way you look at and engage with the museum’s local district and the neighborhood where you live."
