三社祭
This major Tokyo festival’s main attraction is a parade of three portable shrines (mikoshi/神輿), which festival-goers follow throughout the Asakusa neighborhood in a lively procession starting at Asakusa Shrine, a shrine found within the Sensoji Temple grounds. Aside from the majestic parade and its huge crowds, the festival also features traditional dances and performances, in addition to plenty of the street food and carnival-style booths that make Japan’s summer festivals so festive! Join almost 2 million people on the streets of Asakusa all weekend long, to travel back in time and enjoy the same celebrations as Tokyoites in centuries past.
