Guest Rooms at HOTEL METROPOLITAN TOKYO HANEDA
Chic Style & Aviation-Inspired Interiors

From the custom airplane-themed tiles on the floor to the sculptural art of a bird resting its wings, the interior design at HOTEL METROPOLITAN TOKYO HANEDA is inspired by the airport next door, but the tasteful choices with hints of polished rose-gold and tuxedo black make every moment feel like a first-class experience. Whether you arrive at the hotel with a passion for airplanes and airports or not, the love of aviation is infectious, and it becomes a pleasure to discover every new instance of the theme. The graphic airplane designs on the hallway walls are obvious, but if you look down at the floors, you’ll notice that the carpets are also designed to resemble Haneda Airport’s runways!

The motif continues inside the guest rooms, although the chic bar-like styling of the spacious rooms might not feel much like the inside of an airplane! It’s found in the small, playful details, like bedside light switches that look like something found in a cockpit. We also appreciated the hotel original postcards provided in every room, which feature aesthetic illustrations of the airport.
Deluxe Twin River Side
There are 14 different types of guest rooms at HOTEL METROPOLITAN TOKYO HANEDA in total, including Twins, Queens, Kings, and Suites, and the rooms are designed for both different arrangements of guests and different travel styles. All of the rooms come equipped with premium Simmons mattresses, but the Superior Twin also has extra floor space perfect for travelers with lots of luggage. If you need to open up all your suitcases after a long trip to Japan, to do some reorganization before getting on the flight home, the extra space found in the Superior rooms makes it easy!

Left: Deluxe Twin River Side / Right: Standard Twin River Side
HOTEL METROPOLITAN TOKYO HANEDA also offers “River Side” and “Airport Side” rooms, among others, so guests can choose their views. South-facing River Side rooms look out on the wide ribbon of the Tama River, the elegant Daishi Bridge, and the city of Kawasaki on the far banks. On days with clear weather, you can see all the way to Kawasaki’s industrial district (famous for sparkling after dark), or even spot Mt. Fuji in the distance!

Superior Twin Airport Side
Airport Side rooms look out over the Haneda Airport tarmac, with a view of the Terminal 3 building and the many planes that park, taxi, and take off around it. Sometimes planes are parked so close to the hotel they feel like they’re basically on the other side of the window, and depending on the wind direction, it’s not unusual for planes departing Haneda to basically fly past guest room windows during takeoff! (Fortunately, the three layers of glass in each window ensure a peaceful stay and uninterrupted sleep.) If you’re a plane lover, you’ll want to book an Airport Side room and set aside some time for plane watching.

Junior Suite
For an even more luxurious experience, guests can book a stay in either of HOTEL METROPOLITAN TOKYO HANEDA’s two suites: the Junior Suite or the Metropolitan Suite. Both of these options include extra space furnished with comfortable seating and plenty of room to relax, as well as stylish counters by the window (perfect for enjoying the airport-side view). Even after a long flight, or a busy day exploring Tokyo, the high-end amenities like rainfall shower heads, fluffy Imabari towels, and Sekkisei skincare sets are made to leave you feeling refreshed.

Metropolitan Suite
The Metropolitan Suite, however, is especially nice for anyone who wants to spend some time relaxing at the hotel, thanks to the extra dedicated living room! Between the chic furnishings and the gallery wall featuring gorgeous black-and-white shots of local scenery, it feels more like an effortlessly stylish Tokyo apartment than an airport hotel.
Stylish Hotel Facilities

HOTEL METROPOLITAN TOKYO HANEDA has self-service check-in machines alongside a concierge desk with staff eager to help you plan your trip, but if you arrive early in the day you’ll be especially pleased to find the convenient locker room just off the lobby (right next to the handy nursing room). The locks use futuristic IC card technology (like Tokyo’s Suica or Passmo cards) to secure your luggage, so you can head out and explore Tokyo ASAP without the burden of heavy bags! When you come back to the hotel at the end of the day, there are a few other handy hotel facilities, too.

Here at Japankuru we always recommend packing light, even for long trips to Japan. (It’s convenient, and you have more leeway when it’s time to bring home all your souvenirs!) Of course, you’re more likely to run out of clean clothes during a long trip, but when you’re down to that last clean outfit you can just head to the hotel’s laundry room, on the sixth floor! Throw in your dirty laundry (detergent is provided automatically) and head back to your room to relax – you can check the status of the laundry on the TV. The laundry room also has vending machines selling soft drinks, alcohol, and snacks for days when you don’t feel like heading outside to the nearby convenience store, as well as a microwave.

Travelers who don’t want to disrupt their workout routine during their trip to Japan, or those looking for a place to do their morning yoga, will be pleased to find the hotel’s sixth-floor gym. The compact workout space is well equipped with weights, a treadmill, an exercise bike, and plenty of room to stretch!

Our favorite perk of staying at HOTEL METROPOLITAN TOKYO HANEDA, however, is the rooftop observation deck conveniently named “THE ROOFTOP.” The view is pretty spectacular, with Haneda Airport Terminal 3 humming away to the northeast, views of Kawasaki and Mt. Fuji to the southwest, glimpses of Tokyo Tower and Tokyo Skytree poking out of the Tokyo skyline, and planes soaring close overhead. All guests can use the space during their stay, so you can enjoy the cool airport views no matter what room you’re staying in! The rooftop deck offers plenty of comfortable seating, plus a vending machine with both hot and cold drinks by the entrance, so we recommend grabbing some refreshments and enjoying the unique atmosphere!
The Hotel Breakfast Buffet
Tokyo Specialties & International Options

Japanese hotels tend to go all out on their breakfast offerings, and the hotel breakfast buffet off the lobby at restaurant il CIELO HANEDA offers a feast of dishes from all over the world, with a particular focus on Japanese delicacies and Tokyo producers. Choose a seat by the window to look out at the planes parked at Haneda Airport in one direction, or Mt. Fuji in the other (when the weather cooperates), and choose from somewhere around 50 different dishes.

You’ll find pancakes served with house-made jams, yogurt made from Hokkaido milk, and a salad bar of farm-fresh vegetables and unique fresh-made dressings, but also soy milk rice porridge and curry! The toasted nori seaweed is produced by a company that was originally established in 1886 on the current site of Haneda Airport, and it goes great with the clam rice, another Tokyo specialty! Whatever your preferred breakfast looks like, you’re bound to find plenty to enjoy at this hotel breakfast, but if you still have the space, we recommend finishing off with a bowl of rice dumplings and red bean paste (made, of course, by a sweets shop in downtown Tokyo)!
If you’re looking for a convenient place for a bite to eat close to the hotel, restaurant il CIELO HANEDA also serves New York-style Italian food for lunch and dinner.
An Unbeatable Hotel Location
Haneda Airport Accommodations

Haneda Airport is by far the more convenient of Tokyo’s two airports, which is why HOTEL METROPOLITAN TOKYO HANEDA’s location next to the airport is great for late arrivals and early departures, but also travelers looking for a place to call home while exploring Tokyo. The hotel is a part of Haneda Innovation City, a multi-purpose complex with everything from research labs to restaurants, and travelers will be happy to find a convenience store (Daily Yamazaki) and drugstore (Sugi Drug) right outside. Even better, the hotel entrance is only a minute from Tenkubashi Station on foot!

HOTEL METROPOLITAN TOKYO HANEDA offers a small bus to the airport, but we actually recommend using public transportation, because the station’s two train lines have more frequent departures and they’re even a little quicker. Tenkubashi Station is literally 1 minute away from Haneda Airport Terminal 3 Station! Both lines – the Tokyo Monorail and the Keikyu Airport Line – can take you into the heart of the city, too.

The Keikyu Airport Line is especially convenient for sightseeing in Tokyo. Hop on for less than 20 minutes get to the transportation hub of Shinagawa Station, a connection point for JR lines including the Yamanote Line, the loop line that runs around central Tokyo, through Shibuya, Shinjuku, and Harajuku. Shinagawa Station is also a stop for shinkansen (bullet trains) heading south to places like Kyoto and Osaka. The Keikyu Airport Line also turns into the Tokyo Metro Asakusa Line a few times an hour, which means you can take the train directly from the hotel to a number of popular sightseeing spots: the beautiful temples and traditional culture make Asakusa a must-see, and the towering Tokyo Skytree can be found at Oshiage Station, but we also recommend cafe-hopping in trendy Kuramae! Take the Keikyu Airport Line in the other direction, and you can ride straight to Yokohama in less than half an hour to see Yokohama Chinatown and the Cup Noodle Museum in Minato-Mirai.

If you’re really enjoying the aviation theme during your stay, we recommend a visit to the Haneda Innovation City branch of Luxury Flight, which is just a few minutes from the hotel on foot. This shop offers a unique flight simulator experience where guests can climb into a super-realistic cockpit and feel what it’s like to fly as a fighter pilot, taking off from the virtual runway, flying high above Tokyo to spot landmarks from a bird’s eye view, diving towards the ground or going upside down, and safely landing (or trying, at least) back at the airport. If all that sounds like fun but you don’t know the first thing about flying a plane, don’t worry – the friendly staff are real, experienced former members of the Japan Air Self-Defense Force (Japanese Air Force), and they’re ready to guide you through the nitty gritty of piloting a plane as much as you need. The whole shop is fighter pilot themed, from the three different airplane models you can choose to “fly” in (including one of recent cinematic fame), to the gift shop packed with fun aviation merchandise. It’s a totally new way to see Tokyo!
