My Hero Academia: Making a Heroic Appearance in Tokyo for Summer 2025
If you’ve been following My Hero Academia (Boku no Hero Academia/僕のヒーローアカデミア) since it first launched in Weekly Shonen Jump in 2014, you already know that the beloved manga by Kohei Horikoshi came to a final conclusion in August 2024. But even long past the story’s grand finale, the hype is still going strong, supported by an ongoing anime and a committed fandom. Honoring a decade of Deku, All Might, and the unforgettable battle between good and evil, the new My Hero Academia Original Art Exhibition arriving in Tokyo this summer looks like it will be giving fans one very plus ultra experience.
What to Expect From the My Hero Academia Exhibition
Running from June 21 to August 31, 2025, the exhibition will be held at the Creative Museum Tokyo, and early reports promise a deep dive into the manga’s 10-year journey. The event features five zones showcasing original manuscripts, behind-the-scenes insights, and visuals curated with full support from Horikoshi-sensei himself. Whether you’re a longtime fan or a newcomer to UA High, the selection of rare sketches, emotional storyboards, and thoughtful exhibits are designed to help visitors relive every heroic moment.

Exhibition Zones: A Hero’s Journey in 5 Chapters
Divided into five sections, each zone of the My Hero Academia exhibition traces pivotal themes and turning points in the My Hero Academia storyline, from the fated meeting between Izuku Midoriya and All Might through the ups and downs of daily life, all the way to the deciding battles. These exhibits don’t just highlight key scenes, they also reveal Horikoshi’s creative process, inspirations, and the emotional core behind each panel.
A word of warning to fans who might not be entirely caught up with the manga or the anime – there may be spoilers ahead!
Zone 1: From Dreams to Reality (「架空」（ゆめ）は「現実」に)
Zone 1 looks at Deku’s growth as a hero, from humble beginnings through his journey to become a true hero.
Zone 2: The Fall of the Hero-Saturated Society (「ヒーロー飽和社会」の終焉)
Zone 2 examines the unraveling of a world where heroes once dominated.
Zone 3: The Final Battle Between Heroes and Villains (ヒーローと敵（ヴィラン）、最後の戦い)
Zone 3 lets exhibition-goers witness the epic climax in the war for justice that is so central to the My Hero Academia narrative.
Zone 4: The Ties That Bind (繋ぎ、紡がれる想い)
Zone 4 is a dynamic installation that brings visitors face-to-face with the final conclusive struggles between All For One, Shigaraki, and the heroes who faced them.
Zone 5: The Ordinary Life They Fought to Reclaim (少年少女たちが取り戻した”日常”の記録)
Zone 5, “The Ordinary Life They Fought to Reclaim,” is a bittersweet exploration of the peaceful world our heroes longed to protect.

If you’re already planning a visit, you’ll be happy to hear that all exhibition-goers will receive a newspaper-style sticker upon entry. There are five designs in total, and whichever one you get will be random! But we suspect most fans will also be looking forward to the selection of special limited-edition exhibition-exclusive merchandise waiting in the gift shop, perhaps with an eye on an item or two featuring a favorite character. You’ll need your paper ticket or QR code to shop at the event gift shop, so don’t lose it!

International skiiers are especially fond of Zao Onsen Ski Resort and Gassan Ski Resort, and in recent years visitors have been drawn to the area to see the mystical sight of local frost-covered trees. Some destinations are popular regardless of the season, like Risshakuji Temple, AKA Yamadera, Ginzan Onsen's nostalgic old-fashioned streets, and Zao's Okama Lake, all great for taking pictures. Yamagata is also the place to try Yonezawa beef, one of the top 3 varieties of wagyu beef.

Horaiji. Often used a stage for major battles in Japanese history, Sengoku era commanders like Oda Nobunaga, Toyotomi Hideyoshi, and Tokugawa Ieyasu left their own footprints on Aichi, and historic buildings like Nagoya Castle, Inuyama Castle, and those in Meiji Mura are still around to tell the tale.

Hiroshima Prefecture has everything, from world heritage sites to beautiful nature and delicious local cuisine, and it's either an hour and a half from Tokyo by plane, or four hours by train. Itsukushima Shrine on Miyajima Island and the Atomic Bomb Dome, two Hiroshima UNESCO sites, are famous around the world, but in Japan it's also famous for food. Seafood from the Seto Inland Sea, especially oysters, Hiroshima-style okonomiyaki, and Setouchi lemons are all popular, and the natural scenery alone is worth seeing.

SHIKOKU

Kagawa Prefecture is on the northern part of the island of Shikoku, facing Japan's main island and the Seto Inland Sea. It's known for being the smallest prefecture in Japan, by area, but at the same time Kagawa is called the "Udon Prefecture" thanks to its famous sanuki udon. Aside from Kotohiragu Shrine and Ritsurin Garden, the prefecture's small islands are popular, and Kagawa is full of unique destinations, like Angel Road. They say that if you lay eyes on Zenigata Sunae, a huge Kagawa sand painting, you'll never have money troubles ever again.

Fukuoka Prefecture has the highest population on the southern island of Kyushu, with two major cities: Fukuoka and Kitakyushu. Thanks to growing transportation networks, Fukuoka is more accessible than ever, and so are the many local attractions. On top of historical spots like Dazaifu Tenmangu Shrine, travelers shouldn't miss Fukuoka's food scene, with motsu nabe (offal hotpot), mentaiko (spicy cod roe), and famous Hakata ramen―best eaten from a food stall in the Nakasu area of Hakata. Plus, it's full of all sorts of destinations for travelers, like trendy shopping centers, and the beautiful nature of Itoshima and Yanagawa.

Kagoshima Prefecture played a major role in Japan's modernization as a backdrop for famous historical figures like samurais Saigo Takamori and Okubo Toshimichi, who pushed Japan out of the Edo era and into the Meiji. Because of that, Sengan-en Garden is just one of many historical destinations, and when it comes to attractions Kagoshima has plenty: the active volcano of Sakurajima, popular hot springs Ibusuki Onsen and Kirishima Onsen, World Heritage Site Yakushima Island, even what Japan calls the "island closest to heaven," Amami Oshima. Kagoshima might be found on the very southernmost tip of the southern island of Kyushu, but there's plenty to see.

OKINAWA

The island chain of Okinawa (沖縄) makes up the southernmost tip of Japan, which is why it's also the most tropical area in the country. Thanks to a history of independence and totally distinct political and cultural events, Okinawa has a unique culture, and remnants of the Ryukyu Kingdom are still visible all over the islands. Food, language, traditional dress, it's all a little different! It's also said to be the birthplace of karate.
