Oden & Regional Sake Fest 2026 at the Shin-Koiwa Cherry Blossom Festival (Tokyo)
Discover Tokyo Cherry Blossoms & Japanese Oden in Shin-Koiwa Park
It’s cherry blossom season in Japan – how well do you know Tokyo’s best-kept secret sakura spots?

Shin-Koiwa Park has paths lined with blooming flowers as well as big grassy lawns perfect for picnics, and the annual Cherry Blossom Festival is the best time of year to enjoy the park’s 100+ cherry blossom trees!
But for just a few days at the peak of the 2026 cherry blossom season, Shin-Koiwa Park will also be the perfect place to try real local Japanese comfort food. 🍢

Oden comes in steaming bowls of savory soy-and-dashi broth, each dish packed with fish cakes, daikon radish, tofu, meat skewers, eggs, and more. It’s a winter staple in homes and restaurants across Japan! And this March, you can join locals in a quiet residential neighborhood of Tokyo to sample multiple oden varieties, all while experiencing the joys of sakura season and hanami picnics! 🌸
Discover Japan’s Food Culture & Sample Regional Sake in Tokyo

At the 2026 Oden & Regional Sake Festival in Shin-Koiwa Park, you’ll find 13 different kinds of oden from around Japan. Each one is unique, featuring regional ingredients, special broths, unusual condiments, and recipes you definitely won’t find at any nearby convenience store. If you really want to “eat Japan,” you can also pick up some crowd-pleasers like karaage, grilled squid, and yakisoba to enjoy alongside your oden. Once your hands are full of good food, find a spot under the flowers to feast!

It’s actually tradition to enjoy an adult beverage or two while cherry blossom viewing in Japan, and wouldn’t you know it, there’s plenty of drinks to try at this food festival! Visitors 20 or older can explore stalls pouring drinks from across the country, including regional sake from breweries around Japan, local whiskey, Japanese craft beer, plus traditional plum wine, even cherry blossom cocktails! If you make it to the toast at 3 p.m. on Saturday, you might even get a free taste of sake.
Cherry Blossoms & Classic Festival Fun

All ages can enjoy the classic festival vibe! Alongside the blooming flowers and the simmering pots of oden, you’ll also find booths plying fun festival games, and a stage with a full schedule of performances, including local musicians, comedians, and other performers. With stalls setting up as early as 11 a.m. and open as late as 8 p.m., this event offers an easy, tasty way to soak up some Japanese festival fun this spring!
