Watch high-speed, specially built racing airplanes whizz through a low-altitude aerial course, going at speeds up to 370 km/h (230 mph) while carefully navigating around inflatable pylons floating on Makuhari Bay. This World Championship is a yearly race taking place in Chiba, Japan’s birthplace of civil aviation. Each year 100,000 fans come to cheer their favorite plane racing pilots, and while the Japanese Yoshihide Muroya won in both 2016 and 2017, he had a disappointing race last year, so the hype for his attempt to return to the top this year will be real.
