Cats have made themselves a part of human lives in Japan since the Yayoi period (300 BCE – 250 CE), and this exhibition shows off all the cat art gathered over 40 years by a mystery collector with a deep love of cats. From kitty cat sculptures to oil paintings and Japanese block prints featuring felines, over 350 works are on display! Look out for ukiyo-e work from Utagawa Hiroshige and Utagawa Kuniyoshi, turn-of-the-century Parisian illustrations from Steinlen, pieces from contemporary artists, and many more fantastic works, all featuring cats!
