Have you ever heard of yosakoi dance? It only stretches back to the 1950s, but this style of dance has spread, and you’ll see groups energetically performing the traditional Japanese dance moves to the tune of somewhat-modern music all over the country. This huge dance event is held as part of a dedication festival for the nearby Meiji Jingu Shrine; spend the day in downtown Tokyo and watch 6,000 participants take over the area and dance through the streets.
