深川八幡祭り
This festival is one of the three Great Festivals of Edo, making it a part of Tokyo history still celebrated to this day! In the midst of hot and humid August weather, you may be excited to find that this festival is also nicknamed the “Water Splashing Festival” because it includes the tradition of splashing the festival participants, those carrying the portable mikoshi shrine in the parade, with lots and lots of water! Join the crowds following the shrine from Tomioka Hachimangu Shrine around eastern Tokyo to cool down under the hot summer sun.
