This exhibition of leading nature photographer Tadashi Shimada’s work will focus on his most famous subjects: the birds of Japan. The brilliant feathers of Japan’s kingfishers gleam in the beautiful natural portraits created by Shimada over his 40-year career, in photographs clearly influenced by Japan’s traditional Nihon-ga style of painting. In addition, the exhibition will introduce new photographs taken during the artist’s trip to “the world’s oldest rainforest” in New Guinea, showing off the mysterious beauty of the local environment and wildlife.
