川越氷川神社 縁むすび風鈴 2024年
Japan is a wonderland of seasonal events throughout the year, and at this popular shrine just outside of Tokyo, summer is all about the relaxing sound of wind chimes tinkling in the warm breeze! Kawagoe’s Hikawa Shrine is somewhere around 1,500 years old, and thanks to the enshrined god of match-making, it’s always been popular among couples (and those searching for love), getting especially crowded around Tanabata season (when festivals celebrate the love of a legendary couple). But in recent years, the shrine has begun a new tradition by setting up magical tunnels of little glass wind chimes to celebrate the summer each year, and crowds flock from near and far to hear the quiet crescendos in the hot summer air. Head over to admire the lovely music of rows and rows of chimes, which create a corridor of sound, and take some cute pictures in front of the colorful backdrop they create. Glowing lights are set up to add a little extra magic after dark, too!
