2024 葛飾菖蒲まつり
The Katsushika Ward isn’t often added to the itinerary for a trip to Tokyo, but from late May through June, flower lovers will want to make sure they visit the area to check out this unique festival! Held at two major flower gardens in the Katsushika area, this event is all about admiring Japan’s beautiful irises while they’re at their peak! Horikiri Iris Garden (堀切菖蒲園/Horikiri Shobuen) is a historic garden that has even been featured in the ukiyo-e prints of famous Japanese artists thanks to its lovely iris beds, while Mizumoto Park is a more remote natural space sitting on the edge of the water, far from the center of the city. The two parks each boast thousands of plants, and hundreds of iris varieties, making it a true feast for the eyes!

★ Plus, this year night owls can enjoy the flowers after dark as well! On June 7th and 8th, evening light displays will illuminate the flowers from 7 to 9 pm!
