Spread across three locations around Osaka, this exhibition is at the heart of artist Sebastian Masuda’s attempts fight back against the pandemic using the kawaii community, “illuminating sunken hearts with color and hope.” Why and how does “kawaii” extend past national borders, creating a community that encompasses people of all walks of life? The “Yes, Kawaii Is Art” exhibition is Masuda’s attempt to express the profound meaning of kawaii, which lies at the crux of his art and his activism. Travel Osaka to enjoy the cute and colorful rainbows of these unique works of art, and soak up the deeper meaning while you’re at it.
