東京タワー春の恒例企画2024年: 333匹の「鯉のぼり」と「さんまのぼり」
To celebrate Children's Day, a part of Golden Week, Tokyo Tower is getting a head start on the holiday tradition of hanging up koinobori (鯉のぼり), which are colorful carp-shaped windsocks. Representing the 333-meter height of the tower, 333 bright fishy banners are now strung up around the tower, now a yearly practice at this Tokyo landmark, and visitors can go see the banners streaming in the wind. In recent years, Tokyo Tower has also started including a six-meter saury-shaped sanma-nobori (さんまのぼり) alongside the 333 carp, a tribute to the recovery of the Tohoku region post-earthquake/tsunami. Even from the ground the view of these rainbow streamers is pretty great, so whether you want to go up to the observation deck is up to you.
