This New Merch from Studio Ghibli is the Perfect Christmas Gift for the Ghibli Lover in Your Life

It's been a rough year, and the holidays will be a bit strange in 2020, but the designers at Donguri Kyowakoku (dedicated exclusively to Studio Ghibli goods) are at it again. Just in time for Christmas (or whichever winter celebrations you prefer), this new merchandise features characters from a variety of Ghibli favorites: Howl's Moving Castle, Princess Mononoke, Castle in the Sky, Spirited Away, Ponyo, and Whisper of the Heart.

Forget catbus skateboards, embroidered Jiji totebags, or No-Face carabiners, all I want for Christmas (actually Hanukkah, though) is a full set of these adorable "pair glasses," set to go on sale during the second half of December.

These cups come in pairs, with each pair featuring one half of a popular Ghibli couple. Of course, Ghibli movies feature a pretty wide variety of relationships, and characters of all ages, so not all of the pairs are as romantic as Howl and Sophie.

The couples don't have to be starcrossed lovers to be adorable, though. I have no doubt that Ponyo and Sosuke will win some hearts.

Plus, each glass has a little illustration at the bottom for an extra surprise, like the onigiri (rice balls) from Spirited Away, which were an important landmark in Chihiro and Haku's relationship.


The glasses are only available at Donguri Kyowakoku stores around Japan until mid-January, but if you don't mind waiting, they'll be available online at the Donguri Kyowakoku online shop, Sora no Ue, next year.
