A visit to this chisen-kaiyushiki (池泉回遊式庭園) "stroll garden" in Shimane is beautiful throughout the year, but one of the Yuushien Garden's most highly anticipated yearly events is the spring peony bloom, when the garden puts on a number of events featuring this colorful flower. This year, peony season starts in mid-April, and from the end of that month to the beginning of May (peak Golden Week travel season) visitors can enjoy Yuushien's famous floating peonies, along with peony paths for flower-filled walks, and even a special floating yellow peony event, where for just a few days you can surround yourself with golden petals glowing in the sunlight.
