This yearly Karuizawa event brings a little extra color to the dreary days of Japan's rainy season! Head to the boardwalk of Harunire Terrace to stroll beneath the 100+ colorful umbrellas hanging above the street, which come together to bathe visitors in colorful light even on the dark and stormy rainy days of early summer in Japan. Spend your time browsing the 16 shops and restaurants spread along the wooden path, check out the limited-time only rainy season workshops and desserts, and don't miss the special surprises based on the weather and time of day. On rainy days, the wooden planks beneath your feet come alive with woodland-themed "rainy art," on sunny days shimmering bubbles float through the air among the umbrellas, and after dark the lighting adds a little extra romance!
