Kuma Kengo: Five Purr-fect Points for a New Public Space (Tokyo)
Jun 18, 2021 - Sep 26, 2021
隈研吾展 新しい公共性をつくるためのネコの5原則
Kuma Kengo is one of Japan's most popular contemporary architects, known for his use of local materials, and his body of work not only includes museums, government buildings, and contributions to the Tokyo Olympic buildings, but also numerous shops and eateries, including some particularly popular Starbucks locations. In this exhibition, the architect introduces a selection of his designs, categorized into five principles from Kuma himself: "hole," "particles," "oblique," "softness," and "time." In addition, the results of "A Plan for Tokyo, 2020: Five Purr-fect Points for Feline Architecture" will also be on display, looking at and reinterpreting the urban environment from below, with a cat's-eye view.
