Since the start of the COVID-19 epidemic, as major fireworks festivals have been canceled left and right (and the number of summer outdoor activities accessible from Tokyo has shrunk), the resort area of Rindo Lake has gone with a different strategy and held socially-distanced fireworks festivals instead, bringing a little open-air joy and wonder into people's lives. In 2022, this outdoor event is back again, with 3,500 fireworks once again being set off each night over the lake waters in the Nasu Highlands, and exciting music to set the mood!
